5. LP - Queen "A Kind Of Magic" Columbian Blue Vinyl - $1,500.00 Start: $1500.00 Bids: 3

What a difference a death makes! This weeks exemplifies all that is seedy and evil about our business. Hell, it exemplies all that is flawed about humanity, seedy about auctions, and evil about capitalism, and the adage that "something is worth whatever someone will pay for it". (Note: the sale date in the graph is inncorrect, with the correct sale date being 12/13). One day after Ike Turner passed away, the Sue "Kings" LP shot up over $5k, where it normally sells for under $300. This was not exploitation on the part of the seller, who had listed the record on a full seven day auction. I stress in this article that "Kings Of Rhythm" is not so rare it deserves, or will maintain, a $5000 price tag.

Next, a Northern Soul 45 from Yvonne Vernee sold on a buy-it-now for $3k. In the #3 spot, the Frank Ifield & Beatles LP with the rare cover sold for halfway past the $2k range. Another Northern Soul 45 by The Soul Set sold past $1.5k. And last, another one of those colored Columbian Queen LPs sold for $1.5k.

A private press 45 RPM from Texas 80's metal band, Militia, topped this weeks list selling at the $3k mark. The next two spots are occupied with rare Beatle release. The first one, in the the #2 spot is a Swiss fan club Odeon pressing of Help, and the next is one of the rare export Parlophone releases of Abbey Road. As opposed to being released on the Apple label, these records were pressed on the Parlophone label in the UK for markets around the British Commonwealth. The seller of the Abbey Road release claimed this was the rarest of the Parlophone exports, however it is widely held that Yellow Submarine is the rarest of these releases. In the #4 spot, a northern soul 45 from Doctor Ross sold for a little over $2k. And last, a Tommy Flannigan LP sold for under $2k.

A rare Psych LP came in #3, and the most interesting piece, a one off from the Vogue picture disc company, a private pressing of a church choir with Detroit's Alleluia church face on the A-Side and a picture of the choir on the B-Side sold for almost $2500. A northern soul 45 from the Chentelles made #5 on the list.
