Live 365 Station Update

A handful of medium rare records up on eBay and on the station this week - soul and ska from Tony Tribe, Dave and Ansil Collins, The Unluv'd and a Brenton Wood written song from Tabasco, plus UK 45 's from David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Mungo Jerry, and EP's from Ray Charles and Sam & Dave. Also, look at the rare soul release from Ohio soul band Rumple-Stilts-Skin.

Selling on Thanksgiving Day and topping the $5k mark, a Beatles "White Album" takes the #1 spot. This US copy is numbered and sealed, as are all ones on the graph (yes, one lucky buyer did win one for $300 last year).

Next, a private press Prog LP out of Scotland bids up close to $4.5k . Captain Marryat appears to be a new discovery in Psych/Prog circles. Read the sellers story of how he has managed to contact one of the band members.

The rare and sought after Johnanna Martzy Bach Sonata set goes for a good price at almost $4k and gets the #3 spot.

In the #4 spot, Dexter Gordon's Dootone released "Blows Hot And Cool", pressed on red vinyl, sells for over $2.2k. And last, a '73 release from the Southern University Jazz Ensemble bids up over $2.1k.

A Ska 45 out of Jamacia tops the list this week. Ska originator Don Drummond's rarest 45 sells for exactly $3k. In the #2 spot, The Beatles appear again this week, and again its with an original Please Please Me LP. This one, a stereo edition, sells for over $2.9k.

And here's another recent visitor to the Top 5. A Led Zeppelin "Road Box" bids up past $2.2k.

Jazz saxophonist Joki Freund's "Yogi Jazz" LP goes to almost $2.1k for the #4 spot.

Last, a 70's funk 45 from Innersouls sells for over $2k.

This movie has elluded me for more than a decade. The Flickering Window has posted the first 16 minutes of Just Imagine, the first Science Fiction blockbuster, and just about the only Science Fiction Musical.

A rare Rockabilly 45 from Benny Cliff sells for a little over $3.6k this week for the #1 spot. Making the Top 5 for the second time since September is the Tommy & The Derby's "Don't Play That Role" Northern Soul 45. This makes the #2 spot, selling for more then $3.1k, over $1k less than it sold the week of September 6th.

Next, a rare Italian disco 12" sells for over $2.7k.

The Beatles get the #4 spot with a UK first pressing of "Please Please Me". This one sells for more than $2.7k.

In the #5 spot, a rare Doo-Wop 45, from the same seller as this week's #1 record, The Galaxy's "Lover's Prayer" bids up past $2.5k.

Vinyl Records Top 5 eBay Sales Week Ending 11/08/2008

For the second time in less than two months Lester Tipton's La Beat 45 comes in at #1, and from the same seller too - one more rare record found in the bottom of a box (they always are) that the seller didn't realize was there (we never do). This one sells for several hundred dollars less than it twin, at just a penny below $6k.

Next, one of the better Psych treasures, Leaf Hound's Growers Of Mushrooms bids up past $3.4k for the #2 spot. At #3 is a unique collection of Led Zeppelin's complete catalog, all on audiophile 12" 45 RPM records. "The Road Box" as its called sells for more than $2.9k.

Two more Northern Soul 45's take the #4 and #5 spots. First, a Tamala Lewis 45 bids up $10 past $2.8k, and next, the better known and previous #1, Al Williams "I Am Nothing" on Palmer sells for exactly $2.8k.

One of the most sought after classical box sets, Continental's Georges Enesco plays Bach Sonatas, takes the #1 spot this week bidding up over $3.3k. Next, A Northern Soul 45 from Celebrities on the Boss label out of Detroit sells on a Buy-It-Now for $3.2k.

The #3 spot goes to another box set, this one a collection of the Mono mixes of 11 Beatle records. This set sells for halfway past $3.1k. And at #4 is another Beatles LP, a Japanese red vinyl pressing of "A Hard Days Night" fetches a dollar under $2.5k.

And last, another Northern Soul record, this one from Jimmy Delphs, sells for a little bit over $2.4k.
