New Vinyl Record Talk Tuesday August 31st 8pm ET/ 5pm PT

So it's inventory time at Counter-Clock Records, and we always find records that fell through the cracks in a how-the-hell-did-this-get-here sort of way.

We're playing a smörgåsbord, plethora, hodgepodge, cornucopia kind of thing made up of records that we keep coming across in our bins when pulling stuff to ship to customers and wondering "what is this?"

You get to share that with us, plus something really gross in the news - about making records out of something, or someone.

Jane and I will also be playing some Velvet Underground, Black Widow and Tom Waits.

IT'S INVENTORY TIME, YEAH!

New Vinyl Record Talk Tuesday August 24th 8pm ET/ 5pm PT

As promised we dig deep into the Merseybeat era and come out with a look at all girl rock bands throughout the ages, well four or five decades anyway. Jane and I also reflect on the quintessential question of every all girl rock band: are all female drummers lesbians?

And the period of the early sixties and lesbians gets us into a discussion of the unfortunate sudden schlockiness of our favorite TV show Mad Men. Did they really have to go for the cheap lesbian seduction set-up?

Plus, Ringo Starr's birth home is scheduled for demolition in the news, and what album cover would you carve onto a record collecting Mt Rushmore?

New VRT Tuesday August 24 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT only on Radio Dentata.

This week is a who's who of Top 5 regulars, save for the Ska instrumental in the #5 spot. If record collecting had a Mt Rushmore, The Beatles, Zep and Nirvana records on this list would be three out of the four icons. What would be the fourth? Tune in to VRT and hear Jane and I argue about it.

We Were Ready To Go And Then Jane Lost Her Voice - New VRT Next Week Aug 24

So we have this great show planned digging deeper into history of Liverpool and Merseybeat and the great cauldron of music and strip clubs that gave birth to the Beatles - yes most of the clubs the Beatles played in the early days doubled as strip clubs.

But Jane has lost her voice, so we'll be here on Tuesday August 24th 8pm ET / 5pm PT with the show.

We have live tracks from The Liverbirds Star Club record released in Germany. These ladies were the only, or probably the only, all girl band to come out of Liverpool in the early sixties. Certainly the only all girl band from the time to release a record. What is a Liverbird? Tune in to find out.

Girls with guitars just do something wicked for me. Mayble I'll talk about once trying to roll around in Liz Phair's stage sweat.

78's at the top two spots, as the resurgence of the 78 continues. A Vogue picture disc makes the #1. Robert Johnson, a frequent visitor to the list recently, makes the number two spot. As the saying goes, "no one knows every record."
