LPs of every variety make the list this week. There's the ever-present Beatles LP, though this time it's a UK first press of "Sgt Pepper" and not a "Please Please Me" or a butcher cover. The Might Ryeders is a private press funk lp from the late seventies. Mellow Candle is a psych obscurity from the foggy years of the late sixties. A fifties french classical LP gets the #4 spot. And just to make sure all genres are accounted for, a rare folk record out of Canada gets the #5 spot.

1. LP - The Beatles "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" Parlophone UK 1st Pressing - $3,164.79

2. LP - Mighty Ryeders "Help Us Spread The Message" Sun Glo - $3,150.00

3. LP - Mellow Candle "Swaddling Songs" Deram UK Pressing - $2,345.00

4. LP - Faure / Ravel "Trios" Pretoria French Pressing - $2,010.00

5. LP - David Wiffin "At The Bunkhouse" - International Canadian Pressing - $1,999.99

(If It Works) - We'll Be Guest Hosting Cult Radio A Go Go Toinght 6pm - 10pm PST

Jane and Norm will be filling four hours with whatever the hell we want to. Terry and Tiffany are attempting return to the 21st Century after last weeks power and network disturbances in the California high desert. So midweek they asked us to fill in on Cult Radio A Go Go (www.cultradioagogo.com), and hell, we don't do anything on a Saturday night.

Not entirely sure the whole thing will work, but if you can hear us we've got a lot planned that we could never get to in one hour on Vinyl Record Talk, and we wouldn't try unless you paid us. Just think of this as a master's lecture from Norm, The Doctor Of Pop Culture (got my doctorate from Oceania at the University of Radio Dentata - I took the oral).

So as long as Terry's check clears and the electrons flow in the right direction, you'll get four hours of us tonight on Cult Radio A Go Go. Listen at either www.cultradioagogo.com or www. radiodentata.com

Vinyl Records Top 5 eBay Sales Week Ending 09/10/2011

A lesson in $10k worth of difference this week. The top two spots go to essentially the same record - except for one key difference. Both are the stereo pressings from stampers 1R / 1G with the Dick James credits. The #1 "Please Please Me" was a Mint- copy, visually and audibly flawless according to the seller. The #2 "Please Please Me", again according to the seller, played flawlessly but had several visual scratches. Those scratches cost the seller over $10k.

Nice to see some Northern Soul 45's making the list this week.

1. LP - The Beatles "Please Please Me" Parlophone UK STEREO black & gold label matrix 1R/1G Dick James credits - $18,692.52

2. LP - The Beatles "Please Please Me" Parlophone UK STEREO black & gold label 1R / 1G Dick James credits - $7,947.50

3. 45 - Esther Grant "Get The Most Out Of Love" / "Take Me Now Or Leave Me Be" Wilstone 001 - $5,500.00

4. LP - Helene Smith "Sings Sweet Soul" Deep City - $3,465.11

5. 45 - Tommy and the Derby's "Goin' Back To Houston" / "Standin' In My Way" Kool - $2,816.60

It doesn't turn up much at #1. This week an beautifully clean Beatles Butcher cover got the top spot. The rest of this week's list consists of all fairly oddball pressings. The John English III 45 has shown up for sale only one other time, and the Baby Face Leroy 78 shows up on many want lists, but this is the only know copy to appear in seven years.

1. LP - The Beatles "Yesterday And Today" Butcher 2nd State Stereo - $7,947.50

2. 78 - Baby Face Leroy Trio "Rollin' and Tumblin' Part 1" / "Rollin' and Tumblin' Part 2" Parkway - $3,051.56

3. LP - Ernest Ansermet, Royal Opera House Orch "Royal Ballet Gala Performances" RCA Living Stereo LDS-6065 1S - $3,050.00

4. LP - The Crystals "Twist Uptown" Philles - $2,600.00

5. 45 - John English III and the Heathens "I Need You Near" / "Some People" Sabra - $1,750.00
