Vinyl Records Top 5 eBay Sales Week Ending 09/08/2007

Last week saw three country 78 RPM records, all from the same artist, all sold by the same seller, make the top five, including the #1 and #2 spots. Country violinist Osey Helton's 78 RPM "Rocky Road To Dublin" / "Green River" sold for $5655.55, receiving 12 bids from a starting bid of $9.99. Also, Helton's "Cumbling Gap" / "Ashville" 78 RPM sold for $4,272.50, receving 20 bids from a starting bid of $9.99. All of Helton's 78's were on the Broadway label and were issued after very limited pressings in the early 1920's.

Osey Helton was an authenic mountain fiddler who learned his craft from 19th century fiddlers. Rhapsody has a version of Osey Helton playing "Green River" on the "Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of" CD. Click here to get a free 14-day trial of Rhapsody.

A promo pressing on Columbia Six-Eye of Bob Dylan's first LP made the #3 spot, closing at auction for $2303.00, receiving 24 bids from a starting bid of $0.99.

In the #4 spot, a private pressing from Germany of Bach Cello Suites sold for $2,137.20, receiving 17 bids from a starting bid of $0.99.

And finally, the last Osey Helton 78 RPM in the top five, "Cacklin' Hen" / "Arkansaw Traveler" sold for $2,125.00, receiving 8 bids from a starting bid of $9.99.
