Vinyl Record Art - Found On The Elevator 205 W. 57- (excerpt) 1969

Guy walks into an elevator in 1969 and finds a record from the future, the year 2058, a message recorded by a cyborg with bad circuitry. The record was 8 1/2" in diameter and played at 20rpm. My question from 2013 is what kind of bifurcated simultaneous decay and evolution must we portend to in order to located this future sphere, where we leave our bodies for a technological metascape but continue to press vinyl records in the physical duosphere, shed our memories of iPhone and Facebook, and all talk in the drivel in a late 1960s underground newspaper?

I'd rather just watch girls kissing.

Vinyl Record Art - Jack White Does The Amazingly Fucking Cool Again

Found on TrendHunter, a history lesson and a play on the contemporary paranoia meme from the genius of Jack White. This Third Man release has been created using old X-RAY film. The process comes from Stalin's Soviet Union during a period when Uncle Joe decided he didn't like records. The process to etch music onto old X-RAYS was developed and used by Soviet underground musicians after World War II.

Vinyl Record Art - Wall Art Made from Old Vinyl Records

The JAXPAC, the Jacksonville Public Art Commission put local artists to work on the streets of Jacksonville. The artists took old vinyl records and combined them with wheat-paste graffiti to create a new kind of urban fossil. While you can’t hear the music from the records, if you listen closely, you may be able to hear the call of creatures long extinct.

1956, Elvis Presley scored his first US No.1 single and album when 'Heartbreak Hotel' went to the top of the charts. Check Out - "Northern Soul" The Film

This is a story of a youth culture that changed a generation and influenced songwriters, producers, DJs and designers for decades to come.

This is the story of Northern Soul.
Award-winning director Elaine Constantine will begin shooting her first feature-length film Northern Soul in Summer 2012 under Stubborn Heart Productions and in association with Baby Cow Films.

The film will tell the tale of two Northern boys whose worlds are changed forever when they discover black American soul music.

Northern Soul was phenomenally popular with British youths in the 1970s, taking the North of the country by storm. Northern Soul the film intends to appeal to those generations of fans while attracting a modern audience who can relate to youth culture from another era. If you were there, you’ll know. If you weren’t there, you’ll wish you had been.

The Replacements - Bastard's Of Young

The Replacements were an in-your-face-kiss-my-ass-whether-or-not-we-give-a-fuck-is-immaterial-'cause-we're-gonna-act-like-we-don't kind of band. I can even forgive Paul Westerberg for having cleaned up his act. Everybody grows up sometime. One of these days I might just grow up myself! ...Nah
