March 25, 1964 & 1958 - Beatles First On TOTP / Elvis Gets A Haircut

The Beatles made their first appearance on Top Of The Pops today in 1964, performing "Can't Buy Me Love", their fourth #1 single in the UK.  TOTP tapes from that era have been lost.  Below is a Ready Steady Go video from a performance of the same song on March 20 of that year.




On the same day in 1958 Elvis was into his first full day in the Army, receiving his first Army haircut.  Two years later on this day he performed his last concert for eight years in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
