Vinyl Records Top 5 eBay Sales Week Ending 08/04/2007

In a switch from the Rock Gods of two weeks ago, a big lotta jazz and blues made the top 5 eBay record sales last week. First, Roland Kirk's LP Triple Treat on King closed for $2,878.28 with 13 bids from a starting bid of $5.99. Right behind Roland Kirk, selling for $2,850.00 was a Little Willie Johnson 45 RPM "My Heart Is Yours" / "Boomerang Thing" on PJ Records. This 45 received 11 bids from a starting bid of $99.00.

A Blues 78 RPM record came in the #3 spot. Blind Willie McTell with "Stole Rider Blues" / "Mr. McTell's Got The Blues" on the Victor label sold for $2,252.00 with 24 bids from a starting bid of $150.00. While I can only speak from instinct at the moment (and I plan to do some research and write a blog article on the subject), it seems Blues 78's have become a very hot item in recent months, and might in fact be right behind Northern Soul 45's in the overall record-collecting-scheme-of-things. Next in line at #4, Lightning Hopkins Mojo Hand LP on the Fire label sold for $2000.00 on a Buy-It-Now.

The #5 spot was taken by a Northern Soul 45 RPM record. Frankie Lymon, "I'm Sorry" / "Sea Breeze" on the Maseda label closed for $1,691.00 with 5 bids from a starting bid of $1,111,11.
