Vinyl Records Top 5 eBay Sales Week Ending 08/11/2007

Last week was another White Album week. An acetate of The Beatles White Album sold for $5,477.77 receiving 26 bids from a starting bid of $20.00, and this was for just 1/2 of the White Album, a single EMI acetate which had different mixes of some of the songs. The trend in Beatles records seems to be high-value moving from the Butcher Cover to low numbered and one-offs of The White Album.

Two Northern Soul records tied for the #2 spot. A 45 by The Celebrities, "I Chose You Baby" / "I Chose You Baby (Instr)", on Boss Records sold for $4,550.00, with 21 bids from a starting bid of $37.87. And a Ted Wilson 45, "I Can't Take No More" / "My Aim Is To Please", sold for the same $4550.00 receving 25 bids from a starting bid of $99.00.

Next, another Beatles acetate, this one of "I Saw Her Standing There" (the version on the UK Please Please Me LP) closed at auction for $3,350.00, getting 39 bids from a starting bid of $20.00.

Elvis says hello in the #4 spot, with a Chicken-Of-The-Sea employee promo copy of the "Aloha From Hawaii" LP selling for $2,912.00. The LP received 27 bids from a starting bid of $80.00. This copy was sealed with the Chicken-Of-The-Sea promo sticker on the shrink wrap. Well, why not.

And the most interesting piece of music history for the week sold in the #5 spot. The 1st single, actually 2 singles forming a story cycle packaged in a Christmas card, from the legendary Residents,"Santa Dog", sold on a Buy-It-Now for $2,600.00.
