Vinyl Records Top 5 eBay Sales Week Ending 05/07/2011

Two Northern Soul 45's make the list this week which is a little unusual as Northern Soul values drifted away toward oblivion along with the British economy. Another Beatles "Please Please Me" made the list which has been an almost weekly event lately. And another original U2 12", sold by the band themselves at a swap meet in Dublin sometime around 1979, makes the list again, this time in the #1 spot.

Selling for the first time since 2006, a purple vinyl 7in from U2 bids to a record price at over $3.5k. Next, one of five known copies of The Vals' Doo-Wop single from 1961 gets a best offer of one quarter past $3.5k.

One of two butcher covers making the top five this week lands in the #3 spot, selling on a Buy-It-Now for close to $3.3k.

A Northern Soul 45 from Frankie Beverly bids well over $3.1k for the #4 spot. And last, from the same seller as the #3 butcher cover, this one gets a best offer of $2.9k.

3. 45 - Elvis Presley "self titled" EP RCA SPD-23 - $3,151.00 - Start: $19.99 - Bids: 16

4. 45 - The Harp Tones "A Sunday Kink Of Love" / "I'll Never Tell" Bruce - $2,552,89 - Start: $9.99 - Bids: 14

5. 78 - Perry & His Stomp Band "Ash Can Stomp" / "Muddy Water" Black Patti - 2,500.00 - Start: $999.99 - Bids: 3

#1 on the list this week is U2's original 12" record, commonly known as "Out Of Control" or just "Three", selling for close to $3.4k. This is the numbered copy that the band themselves sold at a swap meet in Ireland. Next, a Northern Soul 45 by Salt & Pepper on Heatwave records sells for a little over $3.3k.

The RCA give-away 45 EP set from Elvis makes the list for the second time this year, bidding more than halfway over $3.1k for the #3 spot. This copy, described in what would be VG condition, sells for more than $1k less than the Near Mint copy of two weeks ago.

A Doo-Wop 45 makes the #4 spot, "A Sunday Kind Of Love" on Bruce closing at well over $2.5k. And last, a hillbilly 78 from Perry and his Stomp Band, one of five known copies, sells for exactly $2.5k.

2009 gets its first break of the $10k mark this week, with a rare blue vinyl "Meddle" selling for exactly $12k. The $10k mark was broken only three times last year, once by the #5 White Album, and twice by Northern Soul 45's.

In the #2 spot a French Bach LP set of Bach Sonatas bids up to $5.5k. Next, another Pink Floyd record makes the list, this one a Japanese promo which contained tracks from early Pink Floyd albums Saucerful Of Secrets through Atom Heart Mother, as well as a few singles and B-sides.

Elvis Presley's three EP set, simply titled "Elvis Presley" bids up halfway past $4.2k.

And last, a tan vinyl "I Will Follow" from U2 sells for halfway over $2.6k.
