Vinyl Records News - Led Zeppelin reunion goes to vinyl and Obama lip sync's Whole Lotta Love

Led Zeppelin's 2007 reunion concert is coming to vinyl at the end of January 2013.  "Celebration Day" is a 3LP set on 180 gram vinyl of the live concert at 02 arena in London.

This is the second Led Zeppelin related vinyl release this year after Jimmy Page remixed the original soundtrack for the film "Lucifer Rising" which he never completed in the early 70s.

President Obama is apparently a Led Zeppelin fan.  A video emerged on YouTube last week showing the President lip syncing to Lenny Kravitz performance of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love".

USA Today posted a video of the lip syncing moment but that video has been taken down.  Well, as long as it lasts.  Here's another.  Look for Obama at about the 00:35 mark.

Led Zeppelin Seattle Coliseum 1970 Poster Sought - Buyer Will Pay $3000.00

Vintage Rock Posters owner Andrew Hawley who has previously announced public searches for Buddy Holly and Doors posters, has announced his search for a specific single poster.

This poster comes from a one night Led Zeppelin concert in Seattle at the Seattle Coliseum in 1970.  This was the third time Zeppelin had performed in Seattle.  In their previous visit they shared a bill with The Doors.

Vinyl Records Top 5 eBay Sales Week Ending 04/02/2011

A box set of every Led Zeppelin record on 180gm vinyl makes the top of the list. An acetate from 1951, recorded by the strange poet/jazz musician known as Moondog, gets the #2 spot. Another Madrigal learn Spanish LP makes the list. And Seattle band Fleet Foxes sells a test pressing of their yet to be released new album to help Japan's earthquake relief efforts. This record is by far the most recently recorded (if unreleased) piece of vinyl to make the Top 5.

In the #1 spot, a red vinyl pressing out of New Zealand of Queen's 1986 LP release bid to well over $6.6k. As this one is a test pressing it may be one of a kind. The commercial release is on orange colored vinyl. Next, a mono "White Album", this one numbered 52, closes more than halfway over $3.5k.

One of the most soft after classical LP sets, Johana Martzy's Bach violin sonatas sells for more than $3.2k and gets the #3 spot. At #4, Another Led Zeppelin on 12" "Road Box" gets one dollar over $2.8k. And last, a unknown acetate of an R&B/Funk recording sells for well over $2.3k.

The Joy Divison 7" on Enigma keeps rising in value and gets the #1 spot for the second time this year, selling for over $3.9k. Two more old friends get the next two spots on this week's Top 5, the Led Zeppelin album catalogue on 12" vinyl bids up past $3.3k, while a low numbered Nirvana "Love Buzz" 7" does very well on a Best Offer at a dollar less than halfway over $2.8k.

French Ye-Ye singer, Sylvie Vartan, gets the #4 spot with a Japanese double LP set that gets its asking price at $2k. And last, a Chilean Psych LP sells for over $1.9k

An original Blue Note LP from Jutta Hipp tops the list this week, bidding up a little more than halfway over $4.6k. Next, the "Love Buzz" 7" from Nirvana gets it asking price with one bid exactly at the mid-point past $2.4k. This record is probably the most frequent visitor to the top 5, and as its been pointed out before, has an extremely stable value at between $2k - $2.5k.

In the #3 spot, a UK first press of Led Zeppelin's first LP sells for more than $2.1k. A Northern Soul 45 gets the #4 spot, this one from Tommy Ridgley and it bids to a penny under $2k.

And last, a sealed Sgt Pepper mono pressing sells for well over $1.7k.

Another punk 45 gets the #3 spot. This one by The Fix goes halfway past $3.1k. A private press Psych LP from Damon bids up to one dollar less than $3k. And last, something that may be a sign of the apocalypse, or at least a breach of space and time, an Olivia Newton-John 45 makes the list. This 45 with picture sleeve was released in France, and contains "I Honestly Love You" sung in French. It sold for halfway over $2.5k.

Lots of old friends and reappearances this week: First, a Beatles' "Please Please Me" UK Stereo first press sells for over $4.6k. This record, in various iterations, has appeared several times over the past few months. This particular record is one of 900 stereo edtions on Parlophone made from the mother stampers designated 1R and 1G.

David Bowie is here again. In the #2 spot, the original Mercury U.S. 45 from "Man Who Sold The World" bids past $3.7k.

The next two entries are new to the list and both are very rare soul and funk LP's. The first, a private press LP out of Indiana from Uncle Funkenstein sells for almost $3.4k. In the #4 spot, the never released Dynamic Five promo LP peaks a third of the way past $3.3k.

Lastly, another recent visitor to the list, Led Zeppelin's entire catalog on 12" 45 RPM 200 gram records, "The Road Box" sells for a little more than $3.3k
